19th Century Vanuatu War Club

A fine 19th century Malakula, Vanuatu (New Hebrides) war club. Malakula is the second-largest island in the nation of Vanuatu, South Pacific.

Vanuatu war clubs are distinctive weapons, often featuring a pommel at the bottom and a head with multiple lobes or a mushroom-like dome The club is also referred to as a ‘mushroom’ head club due to this unique shape.

The club is carved from a tropical hardwood and has a deep honey colouring.
